  Compliment

ASSIGNMENT:
Compliment at least three people each day (please make a note of what you say and describe the person to whom you said it.)

Practice telling at least one new person a day about something you;

  • like,
  • you enjoy,
  • you appreciate.
  • Give some praise.

When you are comfortable with all this, make comments to strangers.

Then try telling people something you;

  • are curious about,
  • are relieved about,
  • are skeptical about,
  • are determined about.

When you become fluent at these exercises then start telling people something you;

  • dislike,
  • are impatient about,
  • are uncomfortable about.
  • And complain about something.

The purpose of this exercise is to build assertive responses which will reduce verbal agression, shyness or inappropriate avoidance.

The most important part of the assignment is for you to practice saying something nice, pleasant or complimentary to many people every day.

Then try the other forms.
